Kentucky Archives Month Observed, October 2012

([date], 2012) -- The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives has designated October 2012 as Kentucky Archives Month in conjunction with American Archives Month. The theme for this year is Sports in honor of Kentucky’s rich tradition through its participation in diverse sporting events and the Summer Olympics which were held in London earlier this year.
There are almost 300 archival and manuscript repositories in Kentucky that hold archival records that document Kentucky history and life, such as papers, photographs, diaries, letters, and government records such as deeds and wills. Many of these institutions are hosting open houses, exhibits, special programs and speakers to highlight historical materials available for research in Kentucky archival and manuscript repositories.
